Donald Trump still has another month before he’s officially the president. And now that the recount war is lost — the media and some Democrats are going after the president-elect for ‘being in bed’ with Russia.
The latest accusation is based on anonymous intelligence reports from the CIA, which state that the election was hacked in favor of Trump by Russia. To take things even further, NBC News reported that Vladimir Putin himself had direct involvement with the operation — citing anonymous U.S. intelligence officials.
The Kremlin called the report “laughable nonsense.”
Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, doesn’t agree with the assessment that the Russians hacked the election to boost Trump. In addition, the FBI doesn’t see eye-to-eye with the CIA either.
Meanwhile, over 50 Democrat electors are demanding an intelligence briefing on how Russia helped Trump.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch weighed in on the matter at a Politico-based event on Thursday. What she told the audience won’t make Democrats who were hoping to hurt Trump, happy.
She said, via Real Clear Politics:
“This was a grave concern to us, so we began in the summer to look at what we could say publicly about this issue, and that is why you saw the intelligence community release its report in October, before the election.
Letting the American people know that the intelligence community had determined that Russia was behind the hacks [of the DNC] itself. The investigation is ongoing, certainly the review is continuing. We rarely do that kind of public attribution, but it was important in that instance because the election effects everyone.
It is not a matter of the results, it is peoples’ faith in the integrity of the system. At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security was involved in reaching out to every state to make sure that they had access to every resource they needed to protect the state electoral system as well.
Fortunately we didn’t see the sort of technical interference that I know people had concerns about, also, in terms of voting machines and the like. But a lot of education and training went on about that, and a significant number of states did reach out to DHS and talk to them about these issues.”
While some of the media tries to the paint the narrative that there is a general intelligence consensus Russia helping get Trump elected, that isn’t the case whatsoever.
In fact, the proof that’s being presented wouldn’t hold up in a court of law. It’s only being aired in the court of public opinion because it’s partisan fodder for Hillary Clinton advocates that she should have won the election.
