Daily News reports:
Authorities have issued an emergency missing child alert for a 15-year-old girl they believe was kidnapped by a wanted child molester.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking for 15-year-old Calah Noel Waskow, who they believe was abducted Sunday evening in Evans, Ga.
Pam Tucker, Columbia County Emergency Services Division director, wrote in a Facebook post they believe the girl is in “extreme danger” and that she was likely taken by 37-year-old Jason Johnson.
He is wanted on one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of child molestation, one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes and one count of contributing to delinquency of a minor,WXIA reported.
Calah’s mother, Nora Waskow, realized her daughter wasn’t in her room Monday and contacted the sheriff’s office, but they waited to activate a Levi’s Call — Georgia’s version of an Amber Alert — because they thought the teen had run away, WRDW-TV reported.
While investigating the missing persons report, officers learned about a relationship between Calah and the suspect. Her mother said Calah was friends with the daughter of her abducter, the news station reported.
The girl is described as a 5-foot, 4-inch white female, 98 pounds with long blond hair and blue eyes.
Johnson, who regularly drives a tan 1998 Ford Crown Victoria with South Carolina tags, is described as a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He’s about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds.
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Columbia Sheriff’s office at 706-541-1041 or 911.
