Six-year-old Caleb Squires is a cherished member of his West Virginia community.
The Nutter Fort Primary School student has high functioning autism, but that just makes him more loving.
His father, Kent Squires, describes him as having the “biggest heart” and says he is “always happy.”
The boy was slated to play a turkey in school’s Thanksgiving play this week, an event that he was looking forward to, according to a Facebook post by his mother Amanda Riddle.
But the play would turn out to be a nightmare for Caleb, according to the Daily Mail.
In a video that has now gone viral, Caleb’s teacher grabs the microphone right out from under him in before he can deliver his line, “gobble gobble.”
Caleb screams out “Oh no!” once he realizes he has been left onstage and unable to deliver the line.
Heartbroken and embarrassed, the boy begins to cry on stage.
The video was posted to Facebook by the boy’s outraged father. He had this to say:
“…watch it and see what a teacher of kids does to him. He has came home from school and said he gets to say gobble gobble cause he was playing the Turkey.”
He posted the video on Facebook to see if he could find help:
“I am reaching out to see if something can be done.”
The boy’s mother said in a Facebook post that she thinks Caleb was treated this way because of his autism:
“I’m sick of kids that are not considered “normal” be treated the way they are. Caleb I love you and you were a hell of a turkey.”
Many commenters flooded the video, upset with the teacher’s cold actions.

“I’m so sorry…this is just heartbreaking! I cannot begin to imagine how your son must have felt. What an awful thing to happen to a child. I don’t care what ‘reason’ there was for this…it was wrong!! EVERY child deserves their moment. God Bless you and yours.”
Another user posted:
“Wow….what a poor excuse for a teacher!!!!”
Some called for action against the teacher:
“You apparently have ALOT of peoples attention on this, DO NOT LET THIS GO!! That teacher needs PUNISHMENT for her actions!!!!!!!”
“This is absolutely ridiculous! She is no teacher!..she definitely needs punished for doing this to your little guy.”
Mark Manchin, Superintendent of Harrison County Schools, has stated they are currently investigating the situation, according to WV Always.
Manchin has apparently met with the teacher and the school’s principal, but no further disciplinary action has been taken.
But Caleb’s not letting that keep him down.
Riddle posted this video of her son, so that he could finally show people his “gobble gobble”:
One heck of a turkey, indeed.
