From the outside, HGTV reality stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa seem like the perfect couple:
In fact, business has been going so well that they have accumulated a net worth of over $3 million— not to mention the $10,000 they bring in per episode just for doing their jobs.
But this fairy tale life doesn’t end there.
The 30-something couple also has two children, daughter Taylor, and son Brayden, who are featured on the show:
However, while all seems picture perfect for Tarek and Christina, it turns out there is trouble in paradise.
Although business seems to be booming, their relationship is evidently turning out to be a flop:
The star flippers recently informed TMZ that they have separated.
The couple’s relationship took a turn for the worse this past May when police responded to “a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun” at the couple’s home.
TMZ states that witnesses saw Tarek and Christina get into a fight, where Tarek then took a gun from his safe and ran out of the house, fleeing down a hiking trail.
Christina was then seen running out of the house, shaking and in tears.
After police were called, a helicopter spotted Tarek in the woods, where he dropped his gun and agreed to speak with deputies.
Tarek allegedly informed police that he had no intention of harming himself, and stated he just needed to “blow off some steam.”
He later told police he only brought the gun for mountain lions and rattlesnakes.
Police ended up searching his home where they seized five guns, including an AR-15.
While the “Flip or Flop” stars said they will be living separately as they try to reevaluate their marriage, they’re committed to co-parenting and keeping their business afloat:
“Will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
That being said, their separation isn’t the only scandalous news to come out about the couple in recent months.
Aside from flipping houses, the couple endorsed a series of seminars in which hopeful real estate moguls are promised to learn tricks of the trade.
However, the couple was called out for scamming people through their pricey seminars, when neither showed up as expected, and attendees were instead shown a pre-recorded video.
As more information on the golden couple comes out, we’ll keep you updated.
