A group of teenagers tried to help shovel a man’s driveway, but assaulted him when he denied their help.
BROCKTON – A city man who turned down assistance shoveling after a snowstorm Saturday afternoon was then assaulted by a group of teenagers, police said.
Police responded to 84 Walnut St., bout 2:47 p.m. Saturday, when a resident reported he was jumped by a group of kids.
The man told police that 10 to 15 teenagers approached him as he was shoveling outside and asked him if he needed help clearing the driveway.
But when the man told them he didn’t, he told police the kids jumped him and hit him with a piece of wood.
The victim declined medical treatment.
The assailants were only described as a group of teenagers who fled toward the intersection of Prospect Street and North Warren Avenue.
The teenagers had not been identified by police as of Sunday afternoon.
