A high school couple from Pennsylvania was discovered shot dead in a car on Tuesday afternoon. Early investigations by authorities are ruling it a double suicide.
The teenage boy and girl were found dead in a parked car, 80 miles north of the state capital of Harrisburg. A handgun was found at the scene. The county coroner believes the wounds were self-inflicted.
According to PennLive.com, the boy was a junior and the girl was a senior at Williamsport Area High School. Officials are currently keeping the identities of the two teens a secret until a thorough investigation has been conducted.
However, friends of the teens, identified them as Annika Monique and Brenden Shipman, 16.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched on Wednesday to help cover the cost of Shipman’s funeral expenses.
Shipman’s Facebook page states that the two had been dating since April of last year and their relationship appeared to be a happy one, full of smiles and selfies.
Around 9 p.m. on Monday, Shipman and Monique posted a selfie where the two appeared to be happy.
Those who knew the teens are bewildered as to why they would have taken their own lives.
A mother of one of Monique’s classmates described the young girl as a “truly spirited soul” and a “kind and funny young lady.”
“My heart is is heavy I was just talking to you today you have always been one of my closest friends and now your [sic] gone I love you girl so much fly high angle I love you Annika Monique RIP,” wrote one of Monique’s friends.
Owen Sampsell, a close friend to Shipman, wrote a tribute of his own.
“Everyone at school even teachers are bawling. You hear the cries echoing in the hall the tears running down the face of those who cared,” he wrote.
