As we all know, Ivanka Trump converted to the Jewish faith in 2009 long before her father, Donald Trump, took office.
But as he entered through the doors of the White House, the acts anti-Semitism began, forcing Ivanka out of silence.
On Feb. 20, Ivanka tweeted:
America is a nation built on the principle of religious tolerance. We must protect our houses of worship & religious centers.
Following this tweet, Buzzfeed News posted an article exploring Ivanka’s role before and during Trump’s presidency.
The article focuses on the type of powerhouse Ivanka is, but what Western Journalism focuses on is whether or not Ivanka is a “good Jew”.
An interesting quote from the Buzzfeed article reads:
“Which isn’t to suggest that Ivanka is ashamed, per se, of being Jewish; rather, she understands that to remain as publicly palatable as possible, Jewishness cannot be central to her public identity. It’s the same posture she holds when it comes to power, and her father, and her brand: The less she says, the better.”
After the article was published, there were quite a few people that came to her defense, but the question still stands is Ivanka a nice, family girl who we should pity given her familial situation or is she the Trump we should fear most for her strategic political play?
