The main axe attacker, identified as Fatmir H., is a Muslim from Kosovo and he is likely “mentally ill.”
Authorities shied away from calling the attack an act of terrorism, but it is pretty clear that it was based on the available information.
At least seven people were injured, including two police officers.
When armed police officers arrived, Fatmir tried to flee by jumping off of a bridge. However, after jumping, he severely injured himself and was captured by the police.
After they picked him up, officers said he was in an “exceptional mental state” at the time.
The victims of his attack included three men, a woman, a 13-year-old girl who suffered lacerations on her upper arm, and the two police officers. Three of them have been listed as seriously injured.
While a motive hasn’t been determined as of yet, police have ruled out terrorism.
