An 8-year-old boy in Idaho is receiving a lot of praise after he saved his father from a horrific car accident.
Even cuter, the boy is crediting “angels” for helping him save his father.
J.T. Parker was even honored as an “East Idaho Real Hero” by the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho earlier in the week.
According to reports, Parker’s father, Stephen Parker, was working on his Toyota Prius when the car fell off the jack and started crushing his father.
“We were pulling the engine out of the car, and after we got it jacked up, I climbed under there to take the axles off,” Stephen said. “The one axle came off pretty easily, but the other side wasn’t coming off.”
J.T.’s brother Mason had gone inside, leaving J.T. with his father.
“I yelled to J.T. on the other side of the car, ‘Jack it up quick! Jack it up quick!’” Stephen said. “I couldn’t move at all. I was totally trapped, and then I passed out. It was all in his hands, and I thought, ‘This is it. There’s no way he can jack up this car because it took my 17-year-old son and I both to jack it up the first time.”
Without panicking, the 50-pound boy cranked the jack and managed to raise it enough to save his father’s life. Shortly after, he ran to get his brother and they called 911.
“All I remember is I felt peace,” Stephen said. “I remember seeing white, like a nice happy day. The clouds were going by, and everything was happy and peaceful.”
In a 911 video, you can hear Mason screaming at his father to hold on.
“I know it hurts, but you gotta do it,” Mason told his father. “Breathe! Breathe! Breathe!”
“I can’t,” Stephen responded.
During the ordeal, J.T.’s mother arrived home.
“When I got there, I saw my husband underneath a car,” Jodi Parker said. “My heart just sank, and I didn’t know what to expect.”
A medical helicopter eventually landed in the family’s backyard and rushed the father to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Luckily for Stephen, the only thing he was suffering from was a few broken ribs.
“They did a bunch of scans on me, MRIs and EKGs, and all they found was 13 broken ribs,” Stephen said. “That’s all they found. Nothing internal was damaged. It was just a miracle.”
When J.T. was asked how he managed to save his father, he simply responded, “Angels.”
