Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Terminator and the former governor of California, is reportedly considering running for the U.S. Senate in 2018.
If he runs, he will be running for California and trying to replace current Sen. Dianne Feinstein. He is also expected to run as third-party candidate.
Love or hate Schwarzenegger for his recent feud with President Trump, he is a decent politician and one that values accountability.
However, it appears part of Schwarzenegger’s decision to run is based on his desire to mess with Trump.
One GOP strategist said it would give Arnold the stage to jam Trump for the next 16 months.”
“Right now Gov. Schwarzenegger’s focus is on using his platform to bring some sensibility and coherency to Washington by fighting for redistricting reform, like we did in California,” said Shwarzenegger’s spokesperson Daniel Ketchell in an email to Politico on Thursday. “We are keeping all of our options open as far as how we can accomplish that.”
For those out of the loop, Schwarzenegger served as the governor of California from 2003 to 2010.
Hopefully we will see Schwarzenegger make a glorious return to politics. The American political climate is already extremely toxic with the current crop of Democrats, so replacing a key one in California with an independent candidate would be an important step forward.
