The wife of a wealthy Washington, D.C., immigration lawyer, who makes $1.5 million per year, has been arrested for abusing food stamps and the welfare system.
According to police, Helen Agbapuruonwu abused food stamps and stole more than $100,000 in benefits while her husband, Fidelis Agbapuruonwu was earning a massive salary.
Police alleged that she “fraudulently obtained public assistance in excess of $100,000 under false pretenses.”
She has been charged “with felony welfare fraud and document forgery.”
Her husband, who originally immigrated to the U.S. from Nigeria in the 1990s, worked as an associate at Mayer Brown in D.C. However, he no longer works there and used a Paul & Daisy Soros Scholarship offered to new Americans to pay for his law school at Ohio State University.

Not only are immigrants coming to the United States to abuse our generous welfare programs, but they are now staying on them when they become wealthy. Let this serve as a clear indication of how broken the system is.
