Afrin was originally the runner-up of the music reality TV show in 2015 and has been performing songs ever since. The fatwa was placed on her across two districts, Hojai and Nagaon, on March 14.
According to the clerics, her upcoming performance at Udali Sonai Bibi College in Lanka, Assam, on March 25, violated Sharia.
Read this detailed explanation of why they issued the fatwa.
“If anti-Sharia acts like musical nights are held on grounds surrounded by masjids, idgahs, madrassas and graveyards, our future generations will attract the wrath of Allah,” read a report.
Pure insanity. This is why Islam is impossible to take seriously. A young and talented girl is being told to give up because her songs may tempt people? Sing on Miss Afrin!
