A new video has leaked showing why the Second Amendment is an incredibly important part of the Constitution.
Footage recorded on a cellphone by a bystander on Nov. 14 shows a man fatally shooting another man who pinned a Florida police officer down.
According to the Fort Myers News-Press, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy Dean Bardes was assisting his fellow officers at a vehicle crash on I-75 in Estero when he spotted a Toyota Camry blaze by at speeds over 100 mph.
Bardes eventually stopped the car, but the driver, Edward Strother, 53, aggressively confronted the officer.
Conservative Tribune reports:
Reports said that passerby Ashad Russell told police that Strother jumped over the driver’s door of Bardes’ patrol car, landed on top of him and began beating him.
That’s when a motorist at the scene began shooting the video from a cellphone. The video began with Russell pointing his gun at Strother, who was sitting on top of Bardes in the middle of the road. He paced for a few moments before firing.
After Russell fired, Bardes moved out from under Strother, who could be seen lying immobile in the street.
John Barnes-Morrison, a witness to the shooting, said Russel told Strother to get off of the officer. When Strother refused, Bardes instructed Russell to shoot Strother.
After the shooting, Russell dropped the gun to the ground and returned to his vehicle. Russell was legally allowed to carry a gun and had a concealed weapons permit. The state attorney’s office made it clear that he will not be charged for Strother’s death.
