Illegal immigrant teen Oliver Mauricio Funes Machado was arrested earlier this week for beheading his 35-year-old mother in a small town in North Carolina.
Machado was in their Franklin County, North Carolina home when law enforcement apprehended the Honduran national for decapitating his mother, Yesenia Funes Beatriz Machado. They found him with his one hand holding a big butcher knife while the other one holding his mother’s head.
The Daily Caller reports:
“When they arrived, he was with the decapitation in his hand and it was a gruesome scene,” Franklin Co. sheriff Kent Winstead told WRAL, a local news station.
Machado called police shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday. He was taken into custody without incident and was charged with first-degree murder.
A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed to The Daily Caller that Machado is in the U.S. illegally.
Two of the suspect’s young siblings, ages two and three, were also present in their home during the gruesome murder, the Daily Caller report said.
Machado was issued a detainer by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) after he was arrested on March 6 on local charges in Franklin County.
ICE has placed a detainer against Machado, according to a statement by ICE spokesman Bryan Cox. It is not clear when and how Machado entered the U.S.
