Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) attended a “sit-in” in Chicago’s ICE headquarters Monday, protesting what he called “egregious, unfair and morally bankrupt” deportation procedures.
Gutierrez knew that he could get arrested by refusing to leave the scene after he was already given his first warning. To restore order, the federal police reluctantly handcuffed the Illinois lawmaker.
In a tweet, he said that law enforcement decided to take away the handcuffs after they “changed their minds.”
The Gateway Pundit reports:
What is truly egregious is the number of illegal aliens currently living in the United States. What is unfair is the amount of money they steal from tax payers via welfare and illegal employment. What is morally bankrupt are the elected officials who continually shield these illegal invaders even after they have committed heinous crimes.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an updated version of the travel ban that bars citizens of six Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. The previous version faced numerous legal challenges from several states including Congressman Gutierrez’s home state of Illinois.
