The U.S. government is reportedly looking into the possible involvement of conservative websites in a Russian cyber operation to amplify pro-Trump stories during the campaign.
Federal investigators are investigating the allegations that far-right news sites helped a Russian cyber operation that dramatically widened the reach of news stories that favored Donald Trump’s presidential bid, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Sources said that the Russian operatives used “bots” to produce social media posts with links to stories favorable to Trump at times when the Republican presidential nominee was on the defensive in his race against Democrat rival Hillary Clinton.
The bots essentially created millions of Twitter and Facebook posts that had links to conservative news sites like Breitbart and InfoWars.
The bots probe is part of the FBI’s investigation on Russia’s alleged attempt to influence last year’s elections.
The Gateway Pundit reports:
The liberal establishment has been after conservative websites since Hillary Clinton was shellacked in last year’s presidential election.
Democrats and the liberal media have not accepted the electoral thumping. Instead there is a war against any conservative voice who supported candidate Donald Trump.
