Fifty people were arrested and 100 chickens were seized during an immigration raid in Detroit on Saturday, according to The Daily Caller.
The carefully planned operation involved 150 law enforcement personnel, from several agencies including Homeland Security, ICE and Detroit police, according to a report by MLive.
ICE spokesman Khaalid H. Waals said the animals were used by immigrants for cockfighting and illegal gambling. MLive reports that the seized birds have been “humanely euthanized.”
Since President Donald Trump assumed office in January, there has been increased attention given to criminal activities by immigrants. President Trump signed executive orders expanding the powers of ICE and local law enforcement to go after illegal aliens.
The Daily Caller reports:
Reports show increased morale among ICE agents who now feel more able to do their job.
Last month, ICE raids deported nearly 700 illegal immigrants, a majority of whom were convicted criminals.
