FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is currently in the hot seat as a senior Republican senator wants to dig deeper into the involvement of the agency’s number 2 in the investigation into Trump’s alleged ties with Russia, according to 100% Fed Up.
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) sent a letter to FBI Director James Comey on March 28 demanding an explanation to the reported plan of the FBI to pay the author of the dossier on candidate Trump as well as more information about Deputy Director McCabe’s involvement with the author of the dossier former British spy Christopher Steele.
The contents of the unsubstantiated dossier, which was leaked to the media before Trump was sworn into office on Jan. 20, suggest that Trump and his associates had intricate links with Russian spies.
Grassley also wants to investigate McCabe’s deep ties with the Clintons and their longtime counselor, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who helped raise $700,000 for the state Senate campaign of McCabe’s wife, according to the Washington Examiner.
