Jim Sciutto, CNN’s chief national security correspondent, said on air Monday that the story about Susan Rice allegedly unmasking President Donald Trump’s associates is being used as a distraction from the bigger investigation, according to The Daily Caller.
Sciutto’s interview was rolled out by CNN as “Breaking News” noting somebody close to the former Obama National Security Advisor claims she had nothing to do with the allegations.
During the interview, Sciutto – a former Obama appointee who joined CNN in 2013 – quoted a Rice colleague as saying, “The idea that Ambassador Rice improperly sought the identities of Americans is false.”
Sciutto also said such unmasking is not unusual and the “a story largely ginned up, partly as a distraction from this larger investigation.”
On Monday, Fox ran a bombshell story that pointed Rice as behind the unmasking of the identities of Trump’s team for political purposes.
