Melania Trump is getting a lot of eyeballs with her striking red tea-length dress that made the First Lady look stunning when the first couple welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, 100% Fed Up reports.
Thursday’s formal dinner at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida is part of a two-day summit between the leaders of the world’s two biggest economies. It is also Melania’s first official hosting event.
She wore a “sleeveless red daisy-appliqué crepe midi dress made by Valentino,” which approximately costs around $4,000, according to People.com. There could also be a special meaning with the color she chose as red symbolizes “good luck and celebration in China.”
Melania’s predecessor, Michelle Obama, also utilized fashion as a platform for diplomacy by using clothing made by designers that reflected both her country as well as that of her guests.
At the dinner, President Trump spoke about the friendship between the United States and China.
