Susan Rice, who finds herself at the center of the scandal involving the unmasking of Trump’s transition officials, has given different versions of her story over the last two weeks, The Daily Caller reports.
Though the former national security adviser initially pretended she knew nothing about it, now she’s singing an entirely different tune. After it was revealed that she was responsible for numerous requests to unmask the identities of Trump’s associates caught up in the surveillance of foreigners, Rice is now saying her actions was for the interest of national security and not for political reasons.
During a PBS interview on March 22, Rice was asked if she had any knowledge about the unmasking, and replied, “I know nothing about this… I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that count today.”
But after reports surfaced that it was her who requested the unmasking, Rice said in an interview on MSNBC Tuesday: “It was not uncommon, it was necessary at times to make those requests… I don’t have a particular recollection of doing that more frequently after the election.”
