Deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders denied rumors that Kellyanne Conway is leaving the Trump administration.
Sanders’ comment came following Republican sources on Capitol Hill said that one of President Donald Trump’s most trusted staff was considering a return to the private sector and leave her post as counselor to the president.
The Daily Caller reports:
“Kellyanne Conway is a valued member of the president’s senior team and she is not going anywhere, and any stories that suggest otherwise are just more fake news trying to distract from this administration’s successes,” Sanders told The Daily Caller in a statement Friday.
With reports of tensions running high inside the Trump administration, the White House made a public declaration Friday that Conway is not on her way out. Rumors are swirling around DC that either chief strategist Steve Bannon or chief of staff Reince Priebus may soon leave the administration.
Conway herself said the rumors are “100% false.” She has often denounced the mainstream media for focusing more on White House internal rifts than on the news the new administration is making.
