The mayor of Seattle Ed Murray, known for championing rights for gays and illegal immigrants, was accused in a lawsuit this week by three men who alleged they were raped and molested by Murray as children decades ago in the 1980s.
The lawsuit, which was filed Thursday by a 46- year-old man from Kent, Washington identified only as “D.H”, accuses Murray of sexually abusing him when he was a 15-year-old homeless drug addict and paying him from $10 to $20 each time.
The 61-year-old Murray, a gay rights pioneer and an open critic of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, called the accusations “painful” and untrue.
Murray’s representatives dismissed the allegation as politically motivated and said it was timed to tarnish the mayor’s re-election campaign. Murray said he would remain as mayor and run for re-election. He also said that he will “vigorously” fight his accuser in court.
The Daily Caller reports:
D.H.’s accusations are not the first toxic charges to be leveled at the liberal, openly homosexual mayor.
Two other men, Jeff Simpson and Lloyd Anderson, also say they were victims of Murray’s alleged sexual abuse when as boys they were in a center for troubled children in the 1980s. Simpson came forward with the charges in 1984, but after talking to a social worker and police officer, no charges resulted.
