President Donald Trump warned he was sending a Navy strike group he described as an “armada” towards the Korean peninsula as North Korean state media warned of a nuclear attack on the U.S., prompting a hurried phone call between Trump and Chinese president Xi Jinping, according to the Gateway Pundit.
In an interview with Fox Business Network on Tuesday evening, Trump warned that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that the U.S. is sending a very powerful armada. This stern warning from Trump shows his administration’s willingness to use the military option to curtail to the growing threat of Pyongyang’s nuclear program.
“We have submarines. Very powerful. Far more powerful than the aircraft carrier,” he continued.
Earlier, Pyongyang threatened to respond to U.S. aggression by attacking the U.S. mainland using nuclear weapons.
North Korea’s state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper said, “Our revolutionary strong army is keenly watching every move by enemy elements with our nuclear sight focused on the US invasionary bases not only in South Korea… but also in the U.S. mainland.”
