Wikileaks unveiled on Wednesday that a former policy adviser of Hillary Clinton told the Democratic presidential nominee that terror group al-Qaeda is on the side of the Americans in the conflict in Syria, according to the Gateway Pundit.
In an email dated Feb. 12, 2012, Jake Sullivan told Clinton, “AQ is on our side in Syria.”
Sullivan was referring to a report sent to Clinton, who was then Secretary of State, described as “Sensitive But Classified” containing updates about Syria.
In particular, Sullivan asked Clinton to read the last entry of the report about al-Qaida leader al-Zawahiri urging jihadists in Turkey and the Middle East to help rebel forces fight supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Clinton, who failed in her bid to win the U.S. presidency last year, widely advocated for regime change in Syria.
This latest Wikileaks revelation comes just five days after President Donald Trump ordered military airstrikes at a Syrian airbase in Homs.
