President Donald Trump said in an interview Wednesday that he has “confidence” in FBI Director James Comey and he didn’t ask him to resign at the start of his term because he wanted “to give everybody a good, fair chance,” according to The Daily Caller.
The issue was brought up during Trump’s interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo when she asked him why there were so many staffers from the Obama administration continue to remain in his administration.
However, President Trump did send mixed signals about his view on the FBI Director when he criticized him for exonerating Hillary Clinton by not recommending charges over her use of a private email server during her time at the State Department.
When Bartiromo asked him if it’s too late in his presidency to ask Comey to step down, Trump replied “it’s not too late” to fire him.
On the topic about Susan Rice, Trump told Bartiromo that “nobody believes” the former National Security Adviser when she said that her actions of unmasking the names of his transition officials were not political.
