President Donald Trump’s supporters have witnessed his change of heart on Syria, NATO and China’s currency manipulation all in the past week. But Trump’s base need not be concerned as Attorney General Jeff Sessions continues to double down on the promises that candidate Trump made during the campaign, The Daily Caller reports.
As the nation’s leading cop, Sessions has already started reversing several initiatives made during the Obama administration, particularly policies that he thinks are detrimental for police morale.
As he plans to address a “surge in violent crime” through intensified drug enforcement, having a police force with high morale would definitely be a huge help.
Sessions is also using his office to help curb illegal immigration by clawing back law enforcement grants from sanctuary cities, ramping up in hiring of immigration judges, urging U.S. Attorneys’ offices to the prosecution of immigration crimes high priority, and expanded a program designed for the deportation of immigrants convicted of serious crimes.
During an interview with Fox News, Sessions issued a warning to would-be illegal immigrants, “The border is not open. Please don’t come.”
