United Airlines once again found itself in the headlines for the wrong reasons, this time a passenger claiming he was stung by a scorpion while travelling in business class on a flight from Houston to Calgary, 100% Fed Up reports.
The alleged incident happened on the same day a passenger was dragged off a United flight in Chicago, which has garnered nationwide attention.
Richard Bell, a Canadian, said the scorpion fell from an overhead locker and onto his head while eating lunch during the trip.
“I dropped it on my plate, then I went to pick it up again and that’s when it stung me,” Bell said. He then threw the creature on the floor and a Mexican man sitting next to him stamped on it with a shoe. The flight crew then disposed of it in the toilet.
The paramedics who came to Bell after the plane landed in Calgary said he showed “no signs of distress.” The company assured that Bell’s injuries were non-life threatening.
Bell was flying with his wife Linda after a holiday in Mexico.
