In the wake of Saturday’s protest violence in Berkeley that saw at least 20 people got arrested as fights erupted out between Trump supporters and antifascist protesters, there was a reddit discussion among members of the leftist movement about how they can better prepare the next time they go to battle.
Going to the rally ill-prepared, anti-Trump protesters were soundly defeated by their rivals in Berkeley last weekend. Now they are trying to figure out ways to ensure the outcome will be different the next time violence will break out.
They are urging other Antifa members to be better organized and trained if they ever decide to take action against Trump supporters during rallies.
100% Fed Up reports:
We also need better equipment, I know the bandanna and hoodie look is our trade mark, but I saw the right wearing motorcycle helmets, and baseball helmets. A dude wearing a helmet is going to keep going if he get punched, our guys are going down.”
After Saturday’s violence, Antifa protesters realized there’s a huge number of their members went to battle with no combat training whatsoever and they are calling to set up seminars or formal trainings to address that.
They also want to go as far as getting firearms and training on how to use them. They believe there’s a psychological element in having a weapon and they think Trump supporters would fear those with guns rather than with bats.
