The University of Alaska Anchorage is displaying a painting in its Fine Arts Gallery depicting Captain America grasping a severed head of President Donald Trump, 100% Fed Up reports.
The painting was made by Assistant Professor of Painting Thomas Chung and is being exhibited at the UAA Fine Arts building as part of a faculty art exhibition.
Chung described his painting as “an image of the actor who plays Captain America… holding the severed head of Trump, and there’s a young Hillary Clinton clinging to his leg.”
He said he was inspired by “80’s rock posters, where there’s a woman in tattered clothes clinging to a strong male hero’s leg.”
Chung added that his motivation for making painting with political theme was his disappointment over the results of November’s presidential election. He said following Trump’s upset win, he spent days just weeping.
The painting that depicts the decapitation of the president has prompted debate on social media about free speech as well as complaint to the university.
