Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) told a sixth grader last week during a question-and-answer session at a town hall that she should be worried because President Donald Trump is more dangerous than a terrorist.
The Democratic lawmaker was speaking at a town hall at Stanley Middle School in Lafayette and was moving to the Q&A portion after completing his talk.
Responding to the final question from an 11-year-old girl named Eden which was read out loud to the audience by a member of DeSaulnier’s staff because she couldn’t personally attend, he said that the young girl should be concerned.
The Daily Caller reports:
“My name is Eden, and I’m 11 years old,” the staff member had said, reading the question card. “My mom is worried about my future with President Trump. On election night, my mom cried. Kids at my school are worrying about being deported. I’ve read and heard awful things about him. Should I be worried about my future? As a kid, what can I do about it?”
“This is dangerous stuff. I’ve said a few times, the most dangerous person in America isn’t a terrorist, it’s the person who’s president of the United States,” DeSaulnier continued.
After giving his answer to Eden’s question, DeSaulnier added that American democracy is the “epitome of human evolution.”
Earlier in the town hall, DeSaulnier demanded that Trump should release his tax returns, end the travel ban on Muslims and oust Stephen Bannon as White House chief strategist.
