Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, said Tuesday that funding and constructing the southern border wall “remains a very important priority” for the president, and calls the Democrats’ opposition to it is about not allowing Trump to succeed instead of actual objections.
Speaking to Fox News’s “Fox & Friends,” Conway blasted the Democrats for not willing to support the wall when other prominent Democrats previously backed the idea.
Then Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Senator Chuck Schumer all voted in favor of the Secure Fence Act of 2006 that authorized about 700 miles of fencing along parts of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Conway chided Congressional Democrats’ “petty” behavior of opposing Trump’s wall at the expense of a possible government shutdown, The Daily Caller reports.
“That’s really petty, and peevish and partisan,” Conway said.
She reiterated that despite Trump’s commitment to getting the wall built, he isn’t willing to shut down the government over it.
