Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh expressed his frustration with what he feels like President Trump “caving” on his proposed wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, a major campaign promise, ahead of a Friday deadline to fund the government.
The Trump administration had planned to include $1 billion for the construction of the wall in a spending bill. Congress needs to have the bill signed by Friday to prevent a government shutdown.
However, Democrats are threatening a government shutdown if funding for the wall is included in the bill.
Now, Congressional Republicans say that money for the wall will probably be included in the September budget, essentially delaying funding for the border wall until later this year.
Limbaugh said Trump appears willing to delay funding for the wall to avoid a government shutdown.
The Daily Caller reports:
“I’m not happy to pass this on,” Limbaugh said Tuesday on his show. “I hope my interpretation is wrong, and I hope this is not the case, but it looks like President Trump is caving on his demand for a measly one billion dollars for his wall on the border with Mexico.”
Limbaugh warned Republicans of caving to Democrats out of fear that they would be blamed for the shutdown because that would embolden the Democrats to use similar tactics in the future.
