ICE placed an immigration detainer Thursday against a 47-year-old Gaithersburg, Maryland soccer coach who has been charged with sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.
Immigration officials identify the coach as Manual Cruz-Flores, who also goes by the name Miguel Alfredo-Flores, and say he’s originally from El Salvador.
He was arrested Wednesday in Montgomery County after an investigation by authorities determined that he had inappropriately touched a seven-year old girl in 2015.
The Daily Caller reports:
ICE told The Daily Caller in a statement Friday that they had placed an immigration detainer on Flores. Immigration detainers are placed on immigrants who officials believes are deportable so that ICE can take custody of them. The agency would not give further details on his immigration status.
The incident happened during soccer practice as other players of the team were running laps at the Centerway Park soccer field in Montgomery Village.
According to court documents, Flores put his hands underneath the victim’s shirt and touched her breasts. It happened on multiple occasions during the summer of 2015.
Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division believe the Salvadoran immigrant may have sexually assaulted other girls.
