Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice appeared on The View Tuesday where she defended President Donald Trump’s legitimacy as president and believes Vladimir Putin’s interference in the last year’s presidential election was “personal.”
Rice, who served as Secretary of State under George W. Bush, suggested that the Russian president’s interference was prompted by Hillary Clinton casting doubt in his 2012 election win.
The former top diplomat was invited in the show to discuss her new book “Democracy: Stories from the Long Road to Freedom.”
The Gateway Pundit reports:
Condoleezza Rice appeared on The View this week and the ladies wanted her to say that Russia made Trump’s election illegitimate. They were sorely disappointed by Rice’s completely rational answer.
During her discussions with the show’s hosts that include Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, she backed Trump on a range of issues from former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s resignation to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s performance.
She also urged Americans not to be intimidated by Putin’s actions and continue to believe in our democratic institutions.
“Don’t let him get the satisfaction of thinking we don’t believe our own elections to be legitimate,” Rice said.
