Deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, pinch-hitting once again for press secretary Sean Spicer, clashed with ABC News White House correspondent Jonathan Karl Thursday during a White House daily briefing over the timeline for James Comey’s removal as FBI Director, 100% Fed Up reports.
Karl apparently tried to back Sanders into a corner by raising questions about the incorrect information she earlier stated to the media about when did Trump actually made the decision to fire Comey.
Karl asked Sanders, “So why were so many people giving answers that just weren’t correct? Were you guys in the dark?”
Sanders replied that she I hadn’t had a chance to talk directly with the president about his decision to fire Comey even before he received recommendations from the Deputy Attorney General.
But when Karl pressed her by asking if Vice President Mike Pence was also in the dark, Sander shot back, “Nobody was in the dark, Jonathan.”
“If we want to talk about contradicting statements and people that were maybe in the dark, let’s talk about the Democrats. Let’s read a few of them, ” she added.
Sanders then proceeded to read a series of statements from some Democrats who earlier criticized Comey.
