Former first lady Michelle Obama defended her healthy eating initiative and condemned President Donald Trump’s rolling back of some government regulations on school lunches, accusing the current administration of not caring about schoolchildren.
Speaking at a public health summit in Washington D.C., Obama talked about her life since her husband left the White House to her “Let’s Move” campaign.
She launched “Let’s Move” to fight child obesity because data show kids are more prone to preventable illnesses like diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
That led to rules placing limits on the amount of fat, sugar and sodium allowed in school lunches, while promoting whole grains vegetables and fruits.
Republicans have long fought the program saying it is too costly, and discouraged children to eat school meals.
Students disgruntled with their school lunch options have shared pictures of their unappetizing-looking food on social media under the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama.
A few weeks ago, Trump’s Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced there will be changes to the National School Lunch Program.

Can anyone imagine Laura Bush coming out on her first public appearance after leaving the White House and accusing the newly ordained Barack Obama of not caring about your kids? I can guarantee you’d be hearing about it in more places than just conservative media sources like 100percentfedup.com!
It’s a question she should have asked herself.
