President Donald Trump has denied claims by the New York Times in which he reportedly asked FBI director James Comey for a loyalty pledge over dinner in January, The Daily Caller reports.
In an interview with Jeanine Pirro of Fox News on Saturday night, Trump doesn’t see what all the fuss is about because he thinks it would not be “inappropriate” to do so.
“No I didn’t, but I don’t think it would be a bad question to ask,” Trump said.
He also criticized the NYT article saying, “I don’t know how that got there because I didn’t ask that question.”
Pirro then asked the president if he would require the new FBI director to pledge of loyalty to him.
Trump said that he only expected loyalty to the country. “I want loyalty to the United States of America. I want him to do a great job–or her–to do a great job, and I think we have some wonderful candidates,” he said.
