CNN’s Anderson Cooper says he regrets making a “crude” remark to conservative pundit Jeffrey Lord about President Trump on Friday, saying that it was unprofessional.
During a segment on AC360, Cooper sparred with Lord, who is a CNN commentator and a Trump supporter, and made a comment that he later said was “crude” and apologized for it.
The two were debating a New York Times article that claimed President Trump told Russian officials during their meeting at the Oval Office that former FBI Director James Comey is a “nut job.”
During the exchange, Lord told Cooper, “I don’t care what he says to the Russians. He’s the President of the United States.”
Cooper interrupted, “If he took a dump on his desk, you would defend it. I don’t know what he would do that you would not defend.”
Cooper later said on Twitter that he regrets saying the “crude sentence” during his interview, and says he’s “genuinely sorry.”
100% Fed Up reports:
During a segment on AC360, Cooper verbally sparred with Lord, a CNN political commentator, over revelations that Trump reportedly told Russian officials that former FBI Director James Comey is a “nut job” who was adding pressure to the ongoing investigation of possible interference in the 2016 election. Clearly frustrated with Lord’s response to the matter, Cooper interrupted the conservative pundit and interjected with a not-so-subtle jab.
