Comedian Kathy Griffin will not return as co-host of CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve program after releasing a picture of herself holding a bloody, severed head of President Donald Trump.
The network said Wednesday that Griffin will no longer emcee their New Year’s Eve gig alongside CNN host Anderson Cooper.
“CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year’s Eve program,” according to CNN in a statement.
The Daily Caller reports:
On Tuesday, CNN’s Jake Tapper expressed utter disgust for Griffin’s antics against Trump. He even warned viewers to shield their children from watching the photograph he was about to display.
Somewhere, somehow Cooper is breathing a sigh of relief. No more sudden kisses or spray tanning his Albino-esque face. Griffin joined Cooper for the first time in 2007.
The decision comes despite Griffin has apologized for the photos that were taken by photographer Tyler Shields.
In her Instagram video posted Tuesday, Griffin said, “I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far.”
“I made a mistake and I was wrong, ” she added.
Griffin faced heavy criticism after social media erupted over the bloody photo. On Wednesday, two companies, a casino in New Mexico and Squatty Potty, announced that they have removed Griffin from their events.
