A Republican congresswoman from New York said that she has received a threatening email telling her “one down, 216 to go” following the shooting in Alexandria, Va. during a practice for the congressional baseball game on Thursday, the Gateway Pundit reports.
The lawmaker, Rep. Claudia Tenney, released a screenshot of the email that her office received with a subject line: “One down, 216 to go…”
The email message reads: “Did you NOT expect this? When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance.”
Tenney told Fox News Thursday that she’s been receiving threatening emails and phone calls since assuming her seat on Jan. 3.
“They want me to lose and they want to put somebody else in place. So they’re willing to do almost anything and they’re encouraging people to do this unfortunately,” she added.
A spokesperson for Tenney said their office has informed the U.S. Capitol Police of the threat, but the lawmaker is yet received any additional security.
