CNN anchor Don Lemon said on Tuesday that the results in Georgia’s special election that saw a victory for the Republican candidate shouldn’t be considered as breaking news.
During a broadcast of “CNN Tonight,” Lemon said, “What’s interesting is that, breaking news, a Republican wins in Georgia, it shouldn’t be breaking news.”
GOP candidate Karen Handel defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff in a keenly watched election for Georgia’s U.S. House seat for its 6th congressional district, maintaining the Republicans’ unblemished record in special elections in the Donald Trump era.
At the end of the most expensive race in history of the House, Handel topped Ossoff by 3.8 percentage points.
The result was much closer compared to the 20-plus point win by former Rep. Tom Price, whose appointment as secretary of health and human services by President Donald Trump created the vacancy.
“But the fact…that it was so close, at least it appeared in the polling and in the results, as well. The results are actually really close,” Lemon said.
100% Fed Up reports:
CNN anchor Don Lemon got snarky during reporting on Republican Karen Handel’s win in Georgia’s 6th District. He made a claim that this is pretty much no big deal. That’s funny…The Democrats spent 50 million dollars and went all in on this election but are now downplaying or making excuses for the loss. Lemon should do his homework: Donald Trump won the 6th District by slim margins in the 2016 election. This was a HUGE win for Republicans!
