Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley slammed Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for lying when he claimed that President Donald Trump was being investigated by the FBI for alleged collusion with Russia despite the New York senator knew otherwise, the Gateway Pundit reports.
In a speech delivered on the Senate floor, Sen. Grassley said that former FBI Director James Comey told him, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and members of the “Gang of Eight” senators and congressmen in March that Trump was in fact not under investigation.
But Grassley said that Schumer, who is a “Gang of Eight” member, continued to publicly state that Trump was under investigation, fueling media hysteria.
Grassley recalled a time when Schumer urged the Senate not to vote on the Supreme Court nomination because Trump was under investigation. “And the whole time, he knew it wasn’t true,” the Iowa senator said.
Grassley added that none of this happened if Comey had been transparent.
“After that meeting, I publicly called for Mr. Comey to tell the public what he had told us… But, Mr. Comey didn’t listen to my request for transparency. He didn’t listen to the President’s request.” Grassley said on the floor.
