Authorities have discovered a plot to assassinate France’s new president Emmanuel Macron on Bastille Day at the same time President Donald Trump is set to visit the European country.
Police has arrested a 23-year-old man, who planned to attack Macron on July 14 during a parade in Paris’ Champs-Élysées.
Investigators say the suspect is a self-described far right nationalist, who plans to gun down Macron as he presides over a military parade with Trump as guest of honor during the country’s celebration of its national day.
A source said that the man also plans to hurt “Muslims, Jews, blacks, homosexuals.”
Law enforcement officers were able to track the suspect when he tried to get possession of a machine gun using a video game chatroom.
He was arrested at his home in the Paris suburb of Argenteuil on Wednesday where he threatened the arresting cops with a kitchen knife.
The Gateway Pundit reports:
The would-be assassin labeled himself a “nationalist” that planned on taking out Macron as well as “Muslims, Jews, blacks … homosexuals”. The man claimed he was hunting for a gun while participating in a “video game room internet chat”. Users told authorities and the suspect was found in his northwest Paris home and three kitchen knives were discovered in his vehicle.
This same man was sentenced to three years in prison after “condoning terrorism” in 2016 but he was released after 18 months due to the terms of his sentence.
