The Polish people gave President Donald Trump a hero’s welcome as he arrived in Warsaw airport Wednesday as he meets once again with NATO allies after their chilly meeting the last time.
Trump walked on the red carpet with First Lady Melania Trump and they were followed by top White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. They were greeted by U.S. Ambassador to Poland Paul Jones and his wife.
Melania Trump was popular among the Polish greeting party who gave her a bouquet of flowers.
The public lined up the streets to take photographs of the First Couple as their motorcade passed by.
It was just six weeks ago when Trump scolded NATO leaders during his speech in Brussels for their failure to spend enough on defense.
In that speech, the president also did not endorse NATO’s Article 5, suggesting that he didn’t embrace the principle of an attack against one member is an attack against all.
This made NATO members unnerved amid fears about Russia’s ambitions following its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.
