President Donald Trump slammed his predecessor Barack Obama in a press conference in Poland Wednesday for his weak handling of the Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, the Gateway Pundit reports.
Trump said that Obama found out about the Russian efforts way before the November election but did nothing because the he never thought Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was not going to lose.
Trump said, “So he was told in early August by presumably the CIA that Russia was trying to get involved, or meddling, pretty strongly with the election… He did nothing about it.”
In a joint news conference with Polish president Andrzej Duda, Trump was also asked by NBC News’ Hallie Jackson why he cannot definitively say it was Russia that interfered in the election unlike how many intelligence agencies already have.
“Nobody really knows. Nobody really knows for sure,” Trump responded.
He added that the intelligence community also provided false information about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq as the U.S. was making a case for the invasion of the country.
“Guess what? That led to one big mess, they were wrong, and it led to a mess.”
