First lady Melania Trump was trapped at her hotel in Hamburg, Germany on Friday because of the violent anti-capitalist protests outside the building, 100% Fed Up reports.
Ms. Trump was scheduled to participate in an event for the G20 leaders’ spouses organized by the husband of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The northern German city was raged with violent protests ahead of the international conference, which is a gathering of the leaders of world’s leading economies.
Those protests continued until Friday morning, which prompted Hamburg police to decide not to clear the First lady from leaving her residence for a time, according the Stephanie Grisham, Ms. Trump’s communications director.
The First lady expressed her sympathies to those who were hurt in the protests in a tweet. She wrote: “Thinking of those hurt in #Hamburg protests. Hope everyone stay safe! #G20.”
At least 76 people were injured as police in Hamburg clashed with demonstrators.
