CNN host Alisyn Camerota deleted her Twitter account on Wednesday to avoid online trolls who are “mean and verbally abusive” to her, The Daily Caller reports.
The co-host of CNN’s “New Day” program with Chris Cuomo said in her column that she was “breaking up” with Twitter.
She said that in the past she was still thrilled to check Twitter everyday to see how many new followers she had. “Those were the days,” she said.
The decision came following the leak of personal information of some CNN employees after the public outrage brought by the network’s threat to publicly name the Reddit user who created the meme showing Trump body-slamming the CNN logo.
In her column, Camerota said that she would rather delete her Twitter account than being continually harassed online.
But she still left open the possibility that she would once again use the social media platform soon, although she admits she’s “not hopeful.”
“Until then, I’m logging off, killing my account,” Camerota said.
