Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff said on Sunday that it would not have been appropriate for his party to collude with Ukraine to help Hillary Clinton win the White House, The Daily Caller reports.
Schiff told ABC’s “This Week” host Jonathan Karl: “It would be problematic to get any kind of support from a foreign government.”
Schiff, a ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, is responding to a Politico report in January about a meeting between a Democratic National Committee consultant and Ukrainian Embassy officials in Washington.
The article detailed how Ukraine tried to help the Clinton campaign and sabotage Trump.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Monday. “If you are looking for an example of a campaign coordinating with a foreign country or a foreign source, look no further than the DNC, which actually coordinated opposition research with the Ukrainian Embassy.”
Many of Trump’s allies have said that this meeting is no different from the Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer who offered dirt on Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign.
