The collapse of the Republican health care bill led President Donald Trump to lay the blame on Democrats and a “few Republicans” but vowed they will return, The Daily Caller reports.
On Monday night, the GOP legislation to repeal-and-replace Obamacare hit a snag when two more Republican senators said that they would not support the measure.
The latest defections bring the total number of Republican senators who do not back the bill to four.
With Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas pulling their support, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Monday that the Senate will not be able to advance their healthcare plan.
Trump wrote on Twitter: “We were let down by all of the Democrats and a few Republicans… Most Republicans were loyal, terrific & worked really hard. We will return!”
Vice President Mike Pence echoed Trump’s disappointment with lawmakers during his speech at the National Retail Federation summit, warning Congress to “step up” and added that “inaction is not an option.”
